Periodontics is the study of clinical aspects of the supporting structures of the teeth (i.e. the periodontium), which includes the gingiva (gums), alveolar bone (jaw), root cementum, and the periodonal ligament. The word comes from the Greek words peri meaning around and odons meaning tooth. Literally taken, it means study of that which is "around the tooth".

Root Canal Treatment
Nothing is as good as a natural tooth! And sometimes your natural tooth may need root canal (endodontic) treatment for it to remain a healthy part of your mouth. Most patients report that having root canal (endodontic) treatment today is as unremarkable as having a cavity filled.

Adental extraction is the removal of a tooth from the mouth. Extractions are performed for a wide variety of reasons. Tooth decay that has destroyed enough tooth structure to prevent restoration is the most frequent indication for extraction of teeth.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction
Wisdom teeth or third molars are the last permanent teeth to form and to move into the mouth. Wisdom teeth usually erupt between 16 to 18 years of age and are fully developed by age 22 or 23. This was assumed to be the "age of wisdom" which is where the term wisdom teeth originated. There are usually four wisdom teeth, located behind each of the 12 year molar teeth. If the jaw bone is long enough, the wisdom teeth will grow in with no resultant problems. Often times, however, the jaws are not long enough and the wisdom teeth do not have enough room to erupt. They become trapped within the jaw bone. These teeth are known as impacted wisdom teeth. Teeth which have partially erupted are also considered to be impacted. Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Bone Grafts Bone Grafts
Bone grafting procedures are usually necessary if there is not enough bone available to place dental implants or if any vital anatomy is in the way.

Fix Your Teeth By Dental Implant

Fix Your Teeth By Dental Implant

Dental Implants have changed the face of dentistry over the last 25 years. What is the And how are they used to replace missing teeth? This section will give you an overview of the topic of dental implants, to be followed by more detail in additional sections.

As with most treatment procedures in dentistry today, dental implants not only involve scientific discovery, research and understanding, but also application in clinical practice. The practice of implant dentistry requires expertise in planning, surgery and tooth restoration; it is as much about art and experience as it is about science. This site will help provide you with the knowledge you need to make informed choices in consultation with your dental health professionals.

Let’s start from the beginning: A dental implant is actually a replacement for the root or roots of a tooth. Like tooth roots, dental implants are secured in the jawbone and are not visible once surgically placed. They are used to secure crowns (the parts of teeth seen in the mouth), bridgework or dentures by a variety of means. They are made of titanium, which is lightweight, strong and biocompatible, which means that it is not rejected by the body. Titanium and titanium alloys are the most widely used metals in both dental and other bone implants, such as orthopedic joint replacements. Dental implants have the highest success rate of any implanted surgical device.

Titanium’s special property of fusing to bone, called osseointegration (“osseo” – bone; “integration” – fusion or joining with), is the biological basis of dental implant success. That’s because when teeth are lost, the bone that supported those teeth is lost too. Placing dental implants stabilizes bone, preventing its loss. Along with replacing lost teeth, implants help maintain the jawbone’s shape and density.

Smile Designing

  Dental Bonding
Dental Bonding
The term "dental bonding" can refer to a number of related dental techniques. In general, after a tooth's surface has been properly prepared, a white colored dental filling material is bonded onto the tooth. Dental bonding might be utilized as a way to improve the appearance of a cosmetic defect found on the surface of a tooth, to replace tooth structure that has chipped away or broken, or to repair damage caused by tooth decay. At an extreme, this technique can be used to resurface the entire front side of a tooth so to improve its cosmetic appearance.
  Enamel Shaping
Enamel Shaping
Like its name suggests, enamel shaping refers to the process of contouring natural teeth to achieve better appearance. It can be employed to adjust the slight irregular shape caused by too many or uneven teeth. It can also correct the length of your eye teeth. Because enamel shaping involves modifying teeth by only removing or contouring enamel, some other procedures are sometimes needed in conjunction with it, such as ordering braces from a specialist in orthodontics.
  Dental Jewellery
Dental Jewellery
Teeth jewellery is a brilliant way to add sparkles to your smile and stand out of the crowd.Teeth jewellery (skyce) offered at our clinic is made and certified in the EU, and is available in two colours: "crystal" and "sapphire blue". During a painless procedure, a dentist fixes a jewel on the tooth surface. The jewel does not damage tooth tissues and has no side effects – except for the increased charm of your smile.

Cosmetic Repositioning Cosmetic Repositioning
Porcelain veneers and crowns are extremely lifelike and hold their brilliance, unlike bonding which often appears bulky or fake. Although porcelain is an extremely translucent material, it is also very strong. Porcelain veneers and crowns are permanent restorations, and they can be expected to last for many years. Also, there are no food restrictions - once they are cemented you can eat normally (apples, corn on the cob, etc.) - porcelain simply covers the imperfections in your own smile.

Laminates and Veneers Laminates and Veneers
Porcelain veneers are a rapid, aesthetic, and safe way to correct unattractive front teeth. Porcelain veneers correct heavy permanent stains, teeth that are crooked, disproportionate, small (with spaces), and structurally damaged. Porcelain veneers are shells of ceramic material that can be chemically bonded to tooth structure.

Tooth Colored Filling

  Tooth Colored Filling
Tooth Colored Filling
Tooth coloured restorations are the treatment of choice at Shri Balaji Dental Hospital & Implant Centre for dental caries. We prefer tooth coloured restorations to the traditionally used silver amalgam fillings as they score over the latter in terms of better aesthetics and are free of mercury as a constituent unlike the amalgam fillings where mercury is a major ingredient.

Fixed or Removable Teeth

  All-Ceramic Crown Bridge
All-Ceramic Crown Bridge
Crowns are restorations that cover or cap teeth, restoring them to their natural size, shape, and color.
A crown serves the dual purpose of restoring structural integrity to your tooth and improving its appearance. It is a good way to correct teeth that are discolored or badly shaped. All-Ceramic Crown  is made of very hard porcelain, this is the newest and best material to use for tooth colored crowns. It produces excellent aesthetic results. Contemporary all-ceramic crowns are exceptionally strong.

Porcelain Fused to Metal Crown Porcelain Fused to Metal Crown
This type of crown has been used in dental practices for a long time. Even though it is tooth colored, it has a very strong metal core inside. In fact, it is a little stronger than the all-ceramic crown. It is possible to reproduce this type of crown in the same colour as natural teeth because of the porcelain overlay.
  Fixed - Partial Denture
Fixed - Partial Denture
If something unfortunate happens to your teeth, it is important to consult, your dentist to minimize the impact on your entire mouth. Missing teeth can allow the surrounding teeth to become displaced. Cracked or damaged teeth should be fixed to save as much of the tooth as possible.
  Complete & Partial Denture
Complete & Partial Denture
Dentures are prosthetic teeth constructed to replace missing teeth, which are supported by surrounding soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity. Conventional dentures are removable, however there are many different denture designs, some of which rely on bonding or clipping onto teeth or dental implants.
